James has some knobby Continentals on his that are labeled 2.2; they fit fine, but they actually measure around 52mm. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIt’s common for “form follows function” to be an excuse to tolerate practical bicycles that \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eare borderline ugly. The Platypus isn’t like that. You don’t have to find beauty in its \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eusefulness and comfort, or put up with its dysfunction just because it’s pretty. It’s good \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eall around, and it stands out wherever you go and however you use it.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe stock complete Platypus specs are hard to beat, because we picked what we know and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003elike and didn’t chintz out. The money you save by buying the complete Platypus leaves \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eyou rich enough, relative to building a bike from the frame up, to swap out a part here and there to customize it to your quirky taste.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eMonths from now, you might want to get our not-yet-available Silver OM-1 rear derailer. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eOr you might want different gearing, a different tire, or a different handlebar…for \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eexample. But it’ll be at most a want, not a need. Ride it as it comes. Grips: I remember some correspondence about grips, but at this point I'm not totally sure.
